Solar Simulator Basics

There is a wide range of solar simulators available. To avoid confusion during this discussion, we refer only to "steady state" or "continuous" solar simulators i.e. solar simulators that provide a continual, uninterrupted beam of light when operated. The principles of classification are the same for other variants such as large-area, flash or pulsed solar simulators, only the method of measurement and the tolerance of performance for classification bands varies.

These chapters start with the basic definition and description of a solar simulator and continue to cover the properties that are used to qualify a solar simulator using the various international standards.
